AFRO-LATIN/AMERICAN RESEARCH ASSOCIATION (ALARA) ALARA is a dynamic organization of individual scholars working in the field of African American Studies. It is the “American” section of the International African American Research Association. We seek to establish African American studies as a field that is distinguished by being international, interdisciplinary, inter-ethnic, comparative, and collegial.

Asociación de investigación Afro-Latinamericana (AIAL) AIAL es una dinámica organización compuesta de especialistas en diversos campos de estudios afro-americanos. ALARA es la división “americana” de la Asociación Internacional de Investigación Afro-Americana. Nuestro objetivo es establecer el interés en las diversas áreas de estudios afro-americanos como campo que se distingue por ser internacional, interdisciplinario, inter-étnico, comparativo y universitario.


The organization publishes an annual multi-lingual journal devoted to African diaspora studies, called the Publication of the Afro-Latin/American Research Association (PALARA).

PALARA is multi-disciplinary and publishes research and creativity relevant to diaspora studies in the Americas.

HOW TO JOIN

ALARA Membership is open to all those interested in African Diaspora Studies.

Membership Dues and Conference Registration Fees

The conference registration fee is US $285. The conference registration fee for students/Professors Emeriti is US $200.

For those not attending the conference, the annual membership fee for one-year is US $100.
